Imtiyaz Jaleel is an influential Indian politician from Maharashtra, currently representing the Aurangabad constituency in the Lok Sabha. Born on August 10, 1968, in Aurangabad, he initially pursued a career in journalism, working with prominent outlets like Lokmat and NDTV. His background in investigative journalism, where he tackled corruption and inefficiencies in local governance, laid the groundwork for his transition into politics.
Jaleel’s political journey began in 2014 when he joined the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and contested the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections. Although he did not win, his strong public presence paved the way for his success in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, where he emerged victorious by a narrow margin. His tenure as a Member of Parliament has been marked by a focus on social justice, minority rights, infrastructure development, healthcare, and education.
In addition to his legislative work, Jaleel has been instrumental in reducing healthcare costs in his constituency, such as cutting MRI scan charges at a government hospital, and has been a vocal advocate for better facilities for women and children.
Jaleel is married to Roomi Fatema, and they have two sons. His dedication to his community and political ideology continues to earn him respect, although his positions, particularly on sensitive national issues, have sometimes sparked controversy.
