Asaduddin Owaisi in Surat: AIMIM rejects BJP gain claims, defends Muslim leadership Majlis contests limited seats, Owaisi counters ‘second partition’ charge, urges rivals to defeat BJP where AIMIM isn’t in fray

AIMIM Supremo Barrister asadowaisi, while addressing an election meeting in Surat, Gujarat, said that those arguing the #BJP would gain because the Majlis is in the electoral fray are opposed to #Muslim leadership. He noted that in West Bengal, the #BJP is contesting 294 seats, the #TMC 291 seats, and the #Congress and Left Front together 294 seats, whereas his party is contesting only 11 seats. He asked his critics to defeat the BJP in the seats where the Majlis is not contesting.
He also dismissed the allegation that his party contesting elections would lead to a “second partition.” he argued that at the time of Partition, 90 percent of Muslims were not eligible to vote on the issue, and maintained that the #Congress had supported Partition. Citing Maulana Azad’s ‘India Wins Freedom’, he said Azad had pleaded with Gandhi and Nehru not to divide the country.
